Premium shades.
Real prices.
Direct from the factory.
At Cost Shades is a direct-import roller shade service for Saratoga Springs and the surrounding area. I'm Chad Beebe — I source premium motorized and manual roller shades direct from the factory and pass the savings to local homeowners. Same fabric, same hardware, same two-year warranty as the major brands. About a third of the price.
What customers
actually paid
Four recent orders, fully itemized. Names removed for privacy, but every other detail — fabric, sizes, totals — is from the actual invoice. This is what whole-home shades cost when you skip the showroom markup.
Cordless light-filtering shades throughout — master, bedrooms, kitchen, bay window, family room, and basement. Wrapped fabric headrails for a seamless monochrome look.

Blackout Shades
Polyester and fiberglass blackout fabrics in a wide range of colors and textures. Includes a fire-resistant fiberglass option for commercial applications. The everyday workhorse — bedrooms, media rooms, anywhere you want total light control.

Light Filtering & Sunscreen
Semi-blackout, translucent, and sunscreen mesh fabrics that soften daylight without blocking it entirely. Includes view-through sunscreens with 1-5% openness for offices and west-facing windows, plus NFPA 701 fire-resistant options.

Super Blackout
Maximum opacity for the darkest rooms. Premium polyester engineered to block essentially all incoming light. Ideal for nurseries, theaters, and shift workers.

The same window with three different fabric types. Transparent fabrics filter light and preserve the view. Semi-blackout softens daylight while maintaining privacy. Full blackout blocks light completely.
Finish the
top of your shade
How the headrail is concealed — or shown off. Four options ranging from fully exposed to fully wrapped in matching fabric.
Aluminum valance
A sleek architectural valance that conceals the headrail in clean lines. The contemporary choice — feels especially at home in modern interiors.
Inserted fabric
The valance face shows your selected shade fabric — coordinates the headrail with the shade itself. Crisp aluminum end caps frame the look.
Fully wrapped fabric
The whole headrail is enclosed in matching fabric for the most refined, monochromatic finish. Premium look — the shade flows from top to bottom as one piece.
Exposed roll
Skip the cover entirely. The shade roll and end caps are visible — a deliberate choice for industrial and minimalist spaces, and the most economical option.
The same specs
as the name brands
Reasonable question: are the materials cheaper because they're lower quality? Short answer — no. The factory we source from supplies the same fabric grades, hardware, and certifications you'd find on premium commercial roller shades from the major brands. Here are the specs.
Identical specs, different supply chain. Savings come from skipping the middlemen and the brand premium — not from the fabric in your windows.
What you get
The product details that matter — what comes with your order and what to expect on install day.
Smart-home compatible
Motorized shades work with the major smart-home ecosystems. Control by app, voice, or schedule.
2-year parts warranty
Motors and components covered for two years against defects under normal use. Replacement parts shipped from the factory.
Guided ordering
The order form walks you through measuring, fabric selection, and placement. Most customers complete it in under an hour.
DIY or hire it out
Install is straightforward DIY — about 10 minutes per shade with a drill. Install service available on request for an additional fee.
How it works
Three steps. Most of it happens from your couch. We handle the factory order, the import logistics, and pricing.
Choose your fabric
Browse the three catalogs above — blackout, light-filtering and sunscreen, or super-blackout — and pick the look you want. Real fabric samples available on request before you commit.
Measure your windows
For inside-mount shades (the most common), measure inside the window jamb itself — not the drywall around the window — close to where the shade will mount. Take three width measurements at the top, middle, and bottom of the opening and use the narrowest. Take three height measurements at the left, middle, and right and use the longest. Record measurements to the nearest 1/8 inch — don't round or subtract anything; the factory applies the proper deductions to make sure the shade fits cleanly. Most homeowners get through a whole house in under an hour.
Place the order
Fill in the order form above with your measurements, fabric choice, and motorized or manual per window. Print, save, or send the quote. Once confirmed, payment goes through and the factory begins production. Production runs 15–20 working days, followed by approximately two weeks of shipping. Install is a 10-minute job per shade with a drill.
